Name: Alex Hometown: Russia, St. Petersburg What’s your story? I was born in St. Petersburg in 1988. Just like all the kids I went to school and now in Film and TV University. I study sound engineering, but it doesn't help a lot. I got into dnb in 2003 when I didn't really care about labels, releases or artists. I simply enjoyed the groove. I formed my taste later one by listening to Bad Company's Inside the machine, and Ed Rush & Optical showed me what the real dnb was. My first release «Parallel» was on Fokuz Recordings in 2007. It was a real breakthrough for me, I was extremely happy! Now I have releases coming out on Brand Nu, Blu Spahir, Critical and also our dubstep project release Giant on Dub Police. I'm proud of my skills and glad that I can get great response. Speaking of dubstep, it's very fresh and trendy right now. I like this music, it moves me and makes me forget about everything. It is also very abstract and simple. So I try and make my dnb as deep and clean as possible. Just drums, bass and strange, sometimes shocking, atmosphere. Inspirations: Dark beer any time of the day. Usually the new ideas come after listening to huge ammount of new music, or not really new. Lately I've been listening all Renegade Hardware releases, and Decoder’s stuff and it made me want to write something like that but in a different form. Weapon of choice: My analog synth KORG MS-2000. Its sounds remind me of the electronic music when it just started. Proudest moment to date: Most of all I'm proud of my circle of friends and family. Sometimes I'm proud of myself after a good show or a new release. And of course my everyday achievements and small victories. What’s the best way to get on in life? Be polite and responsive to people's issues and their achievements. Then you'll get on in life. I don't like people who criticize when they don't know what they are talking about. I don't understand people who try to prove something or are being sarcastic and sceptical, talking about something they don't know anything about. What’s your poison? I like smoking cigarettes. People say it's poison and just a bad habbit, but for me it's just a way to relax. What’s your ideal night out? To be specific, Rusko's show in Moscow was surprizingly shocking in a good way. Excellent, classy club, my favorite people around, amazing bar with fresh brewed beer, great down-to-earth crowd and just pure groove and bass. That was a great night. What does the future hold? Can't stop, won't stop. I'm gonna reach to the top with my music. I'm gonna try and grow my music to be more futuristic and mature and my sound more fat and funky.
